Celebrate Self Care Day with IOME: Prioritizing Well-Being at our Firm by Thomas Werge

Becky Lauridsen, Founder of IOME

Self-care is essential for maintaining mental, emotional, and physical health, and we're excited to highlight this on Self Care Day, July 24th. This year, we're thrilled to collaborate with IOME a Colorado-based therapy group dedicated to promoting self-care, to bring a special treat to our team.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Kayln, a talented massage therapist from IOME, to our office. Kayln's expertise provided our team members with a much-needed break and a chance to relax and rejuvenate right at work. Everyone who wanted a massage had the opportunity to enjoy a moment of peace and relaxation, enhancing their well-being and productivity.

For almost three years, we've relied on IOME as our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to support our team's mental and emotional health. IOME offers our team members free therapy sessions and discounts on local health and wellness services, making self-care accessible and integrated into our work culture.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Kayln and IOME for making this possible. Their commitment to self-care aligns perfectly with our values, and we're grateful for their support in fostering a healthier, happier work environment.

Correcting a 28-Year Journey: Sarah's Name Change Story at Werge & Corbin Law Group by Thomas Werge

Werge & Corbin Law Group likes to remember that our team members are all unique individuals with different backgrounds and upbringings. One of these amazing team members is Sarah, formally known as Shara.

Sarah was supposed to be named after her Great Grandmother, Sarah Gertrude, who left a lasting impression on her mother who spent a great deal of time with Gertrude growing up. However, her mother didn’t want to name her Gertrude, so Sarah it was.

It wasn’t until the birth certificate came in that Sarah’s mother realized that she had misspelled the name on the document.  After trying to get it changed to no avail, her daughter had to live with the mistake for the last 28 years.

Thanks to our team members at our firm, however, and specifically our associate attorney Austin Baxter, we were able to help her officially change her name to Sarah to correct the 28-year-old spelling error.  Congratulations, Sarah!

A Heart-Warming Visit to Bella Terra Farms by Thomas Werge

Last Friday afternoon, our team had the pleasure of visiting one of our amazing nonprofit clients, Bella Terra Farms. Bella Terra Farms is a place that truly embodies compassion and healing. Our team outing was not just a break from the office but a heartwarming journey into a sanctuary where animals and people come together in a unique therapeutic environment. We were able to experience the joy and love they have for what they do and the animals they care for.

Bella Terra Farms charitable purpose is to provide a welcoming and therapeutic refuge for individuals healing from emotional, psychological, or physical conditions. The farm especially opens its arms to the special needs community, offering them the benefits of animal and play therapies. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Bella Terra Farms is a haven of tranquility and joy. The farm is home to a variety of miniature farm animals, each as sweet and friendly as the next. Our team members got the chance to touch, feel, hold, brush, hug, and feed these adorable creatures. The joy and comfort these interactions brought us were visible, and it was easy to see how such experiences could be profoundly therapeutic for anyone in need of healing. We highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a place of healing and joy

Bella Terra Farms’ belief in the unique therapeutic benefits of animals and play is evident in every aspect of their work. By encouraging healing in body, mind, and spirit, they are making a significant difference in the lives of many. We recently had the pleasure of attending the Fort Collins Music Experiment (FoCoMX) on April 19th. This amazing festival, organized by our outstanding client, FoCoMa (Fort Collins Musicians Association), featured performances from over 350 Colorado bands. Woah!

Our team had an incredible time soaking up the atmosphere, enjoying a diverse range of musical performances, and connecting with the local community. A few of our highlights included a mesmerizing performance by our former client El Javi, and a raucous throwdown from FoCoMX co-founder Greta Cornett and her group Mama Lenny and the Remedy. The energy was infectious, and it was inspiring to see so many talented artists showcasing their music across 35 stages.

Beyond the music, our outing to FoCoMX was a fantastic opportunity for team building. We shared laughter, good times, dancing, and created lasting memories together. Events like these are a reminder of the importance of stepping outside the office and connecting with each other and our community in meaningful ways.

A huge thank you to FoCoMa for organizing such a spectacular event and for their continuous support of Colorado musicians. The Fort Collins Music Experiment is a shining example of what makes our community so special, and we are honored to be a part of it.

We look forward to many more community events and opportunities to support our clients and local artists. We are dedicated to fostering community spirit and supporting the arts. Here’s to many more events that bring us all together. See you next year at FoCoMX!

Last week, our team gathered with colleagues, past team members, and new folks that will be joining the team soon, for our firm’s annual holiday party. We held it in the karaoke room at one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants, Sushi Bay 17 It took us a while to get going, but after the drinks and sushi began flowing, so did the belting out of all the hits. Throughout the night, a spirited group of around 20, with glow sticks on our wrists, sang and showed off their best dance moves. It was a blast, and might be our favorite holiday party yet!

An entertaining sneak peek of the duet-filled karaoke party! (Attorneys Kelsey and Austin)

And before the party, we held our annual firm year-in-review meeting, giving our team the opportunity to reflect on the past year and plan the year ahead. We had a thoughtful discussion, recapping our team’s achievements in 2023 and setting intentional goals for 2024. Next Year, Werge & Corbin is focused on further carving out our niche among Colorado’s small business community, fostering active participation from our clients in their legal matters, and continuing to improve on the exceptional service we provide to our clients.

As we mapped out our direction for the coming year, we also identified the types of matters that align with our mission and discussed strategies to achieve our own professional goals. The firm meeting wrapped with a Secret Santa gift exchange, adding a touch of holiday spirit to our professional reflections.

At Werge & Corbin Law Group, we are immensely grateful for another incredible year of growth, collaboration, and success. With the holiday party capping off our year on a high note, we eagerly look forward to the opportunities and challenges that 2024 will bring. Here's to continued teamwork and exciting adventures ahead!
